Founder’s Story

Shehram Majid MD

Hi and welcome to my practice!

I founded the Center for Integrative Psychiatry so that I could have an avenue to provide the type of care that I feel my patients have benefited the most from.

I’m originally from Houston, TX and completed my medical school training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. After graduating from medical school, I went on to complete my internship in Internal Medicine/Psychiatry at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. I then transitioned to New York Medical College – Metropolitan Hospital’s psychiatry training program where I completed the remainder of my residency. I took my board exams the same year of my residency graduation and became board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in September, 2022.

Throughout my training, I have worked across various settings including the veteran affairs medical center, community mental health clinics, geriatric mental health centers, inpatient units, child units, substance use/detox units, and psychiatric emergency rooms. I work with patients struggling with general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, grief, family/relationship issues, college/early adulthood struggles, gender identity conflicts, LGBTQIA+ struggles, and career changes.  I have also worked extensively with patients that struggle with the aftermath of growing up in dysfunctional family systems, children of emotionally unavailable parents, and victims of domestic abuse.

My treatment approach focuses on “integrative psychiatry”, which is a field that combines traditional medication management with interventions that include evidence informed herbal/plant based supplements, lifestyle changes, talk therapy, and mind-body wellness that is all aimed to holistically help you achieve your goals. I take time to build rapport with my patients and understand the multifaceted challenges they are facing in their lives and how they are contributing to their mental health symptoms. Together, we will work on creating a treatment plan that holistically addresses the various contributors in your life that have led to you seeking out care.

In my free time, you’ll catch me going out with my friends, reading a book I got from my local library, nerding out on the latest sci-fi shows, at the gym, or planning my next travel adventure!
