What is a mental health self-assessment?

A mental health self-assessment is a short, validated questionnaire that measures symptoms like low mood, worry, or trouble focusing. It is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. A psychiatrist confirms what it means for you.

These mental health screening tools are free, private, and run in your browser. They use the same instruments clinicians rely on, like the PHQ-9 for depression and the GAD-7 for anxiety. A mental health quiz is a starting point, not a diagnosis. A psychiatrist reads your results alongside your history to see the full picture.

What your results mean

Every screening sorts your answers into a range. The range is a signal, not a verdict. Here is how to read it.

Minimal to mild

Symptoms look limited right now. Keep an eye on how you feel. If things shift or persist, it is reasonable to check in with a professional.

Moderate

Symptoms are affecting daily life enough to warrant a conversation. A psychiatric evaluation can clarify what is going on and what helps.

Severe

Symptoms appear significant. We recommend speaking with a psychiatrist soon. If you are in crisis or thinking of harming yourself, call or text 988 or call 911 now.

Mental Health Conditions We Treat

Some conditions are understood better through a conversation than a checklist, so there is no quick self-screen for them. We still evaluate and treat each one. If any of these fit what you are going through, a psychiatric evaluation is the right next step.
